Copyright Policy
this draft policy has not yet been adopted

As part of our mission to provide a medium for the exchange of ideas and information among entitites and individuals interested in bar foundation operations and activities, we have established a very liberal copyright policy and will regularly grant reprint permission upon request.

The National Conference of Bar Foundations holds copyright to all materials appearing on this website, including articles, photos, graphic images, and design elements. All rights are reserved by NCBF, and content may not be reproduced, downloaded, disseminated, published, or transferred in any form or by any means, except with the prior written permission of NCBF, or as indicated below. No copyright is claimed on unaltered U.S. government materials or public domain items. Copyright infringement is a violation of federal law subject to criminal and civil penalties.

Any reprinting NCBF publications (including reposting of NCBF website content on a private website) is by permission only. Reprint permission can be obtained from NCBF by sending an email request to vannk2@staff.abanet.org.

News items can be treated as any information source--you may treat it as part of your research. If appropriate, you may want to frame it as “NCBF has reported that ...” Similarly, you can extract information from longer articles and charts--again with attribution as appropriate--as you would with any other legal research.

However, wholesale republication of charts or articles (in whole or substantial part) is by permission only. While NCBF does not claim a copyright on unaltered U.S. government documents, please note that some seemingly unaltered government documents may have been reformatted and/or enhanced by NCBF.

Items marked “freely distributable” may be used by any person, in whole or in part, provided NCBF is acknowledged as the source.
